The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on February 7.

Donation of New K9

Chief Deputy Joe Schoon explained they received a grant to be used to receive a new K9 and deputy training from McDonough K9.

K9 Nitro, who has been active since 2018, has an expected service of 8-10 years, and is currently in his seventh year. He was between 3-4 years old when he began which gives him 2-3 years of service remaining.

With legislation looking to legalize recreational marijuana—in which Nitro is trained in detection—should the legislation pass, Nitro’s ability would become obsolete.
