Wadena County Commissioners: Infrastructure cost for housing is a major topic of discussion

The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on December 21.
Board Chair Sheldon Monson recognized the passing of Deputy Ron Smith with a moment of silence. He was employed with the county for three and a half years.
Request of $600,000 for housing development
Discussed committing $600,000 of ARPA funds to the Folkestads East Addition project.
Dean Uselman, director of the Wadena Development Authority (WDA), proposed the plan for the land as there is a need for additional housing as the city continues to grow. The housing study, conducted in 2019, showed there is a great need for housing.
There are limited lots available with infrastructure. This would allow them to add housing with the sewer and water needs in a desirable area—infrastructure the ARPA funds can be used for. . .
