Wadena County Commissioners: No Wadena Rendezvous on the horizon after storm damage

The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on June 21. Commissioner Bill Stearns was absent.

The Wadena Rendezvous will not be held this year since the storms destroyed the park and grounds. Their grant writer will check into the $25,000 grant they received to see if they are able to keep it for next year or have to return it.

Park Rapids Clay Dusters

The Park Rapids Clay Dusters applied for a gambling permit to hold a raffle in October.

Coordinator Ryan Odden explained that complaints have been received about the organization that should be a separate discussion.

Some of the complaints include the range allegedly opening at 9:30 a.m. instead of the permitted 10 a.m. There is also an allegation they are using reloaded ammunition. The trees that were planted per the conditional use permit have died and there has been a lack of effort to replace the trees. . .
