Bears Battle Hard in Back-to-Back Narrow Losses

Bertha-Hewitt 51, Upsala 52
Bertha-Hewitt came up just short on the road, falling to Upsala 52–51 in a tightly contested girls basketball game on January 20.
The Bears were led offensively by Piper Dean and Kendal Beyatt, who each scored 16 points. Dean added four assists and had a strong all-around night with 12 rebounds, while Beyatt contributed three assists and 10 rebounds to go along with her scoring. Kyrstin Beyatt added 11 points on efficient shooting, hitting 5-of-9 from the field, and pulled down eight rebounds.
Kendra Miller finished with four points and four assists while adding five rebounds and three steals. Josalyn Hauer and Aulani Johnson each scored two points, with Johnson going a perfect 1-for-1 from the field. Jasmine Williams chipped in three rebounds, and Olivia Better and Jaidyn Dykhoff added minutes and effort off the bench.
Defensively, the Bears were active, with Kyrstin Beyatt recording three steals and Miller adding three more. Dean also contributed a block as Bertha-Hewitt battled throughout the game.
Despite outscoring Upsala in stretches and matching them on the glass, Bertha-Hewitt was unable to convert in the closing moments, as the Cardinals edged out the one-point win...
