Bears Fade Late in Road Loss at Swanville
The Bears made the trip to Swanville on Tuesday night for a competitive road matchup but ultimately fell to the Swanville Bulldogs, 62–52.
The game featured several lead changes in the first half as both teams traded baskets and momentum. The Bears played with confidence early, moving the ball well and competing defensively against a taller Swanville lineup. Despite the size disadvantage, the Bears battled in the paint and forced tough shots, keeping the game within reach.
Swanville took a 31–21 lead into halftime, but the Bears showed fight coming out of the break. The teams played even basketball in the second half, each scoring 31 points, though earlier Bulldog runs proved difficult to overcome.
Turnovers and a lack of consistent scoring at key moments allowed Swanville to build separation. Each time the Bears made a push, the Bulldogs were able to respond, often converting off mistakes and in transition. As the game wore on, the Bears began to run out of gas, making it tough to fully recover from those momentum swings.
Brady Rach led the Bears offensively with 22 points, knocking down shots from the perimeter and getting to the free-throw line. Garrett Becker added 10 points, including three three-pointers, while Jalen Hinzmann chipped in 9 points. Rowan Hauer provided 8 points in the paint, and Trenton Becker finished with 3 points. Henry Lockwood and Logan Nelson were held scoreless but contributed defensively and on the glass.
Defensively, the Bears showed strong effort throughout the night, particularly against Swanville’s height advantage. The team contested shots, protected the lane, and forced difficult possessions, keeping the game competitive deep into the second half.
Although the result didn’t go their way, the Bears showed grit and resilience in a challenging road environment. With improved ball security and more consistent scoring, the Bears will look to turn close games into wins as they move forward...
