Bears Fall to Ogilvie 44-12

The Bertha-Hewitt Bears traveled to Ogilvie Friday night for their second game of the season. The game was moved up an hour because of the possibility of weather, but the teams were able to play the entire game without interruption. Ogilvie came away with a 44-12 victory.
The Bears opened the game with a long offensive drive but were unable to finish it with points. The Lions responded with two unanswered touchdowns to take a 14-0 lead.
Late in the second quarter, the Bears offense found the end zone on a pass, cutting the lead to 14-6 with less than a minute remaining before halftime. Ogilvie answered immediately, returning the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to extend the lead to 22-6 heading into the locker room.
“That special teams touchdown really put us behind the eight ball,” said Bears head coach Jared Hoemberg. “When you give up points on special teams, you’re putting yourself in a tough position to win a football game..."
