Bears Win One, Drop Two in Hard Fought Battles

Bears rally to defeat Battle Lake in five-set thriller
The Bertha-Hewitt volleyball team battled through five sets to defeat Battle Lake 3-2 in a thrilling match. The Bears won by set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 13-25, 19-25 and 15-7.
Bertha-Hewitt got off to a strong start, taking the first two sets before Battle Lake answered by winning the third and fourth sets to force a deciding fifth set. The Bears regained control in the final set, pulling away for a 15-7 victory.
Kendal Beyatt led the Bears offensively with 15 kills on 41 attacks for a .220 hitting percentage. Laila Schwantz added 10 kills on 30 attacks, while Jasmine Williams recorded seven kills on 30 attempts. Ellyana Braaten and Lillian Cardinal each contributed two kills, with Danika Wilhelmi and Hailey Perlinger adding one apiece.
Josalyn Hauer led the team in setting with 30 assists on 119 attempts. Cardinal had three assists, while Schwantz recorded two and Wilhelmi had one.
Williams led Bertha-Hewitt defensively with 23 digs. Braaten added 15 digs, while Skylee Hauer had 12 and Mariana Hansel finished with 11. Josalyn Hauer recorded eight digs, Schwantz had five and Wilhelmi had four...
