Code Red Issued Following Early Morning Shooting in Eagle Bend

On July 27, at approximately 2:19 a.m., the Todd County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired in the city of Eagle Bend. Todd County Dispatch was informed a male with a firearm had shot a window out of a vehicle on the 100 block of Main Street West.
Law enforcement responded and began to investigate the incident. They learned that the male party was in possession of a handgun and possibly intoxicated. Law enforcement was informed the individual fled the area on foot prior to arrival.
Throughout the investigation, law enforcement identified the suspect as Monty Austin Thornberg, 26. Thornberg was observed on surveillance video in possession of a firearm, firing a single round into the window of a parked vehicle on Main Street West.
The Wadena County and Todd County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit responded to assist with a track of the suspect. A deputy launched a drone with thermal imaging capabilities to assist deputies during the search of the suspect.
