Girls take to the course

Mara Uselman, a 7th grader from Verndale has been playing on the Staples-Motley-Verndale varsity golf team all year.

This year she has contributed in each of the varsity meets. With Mara’s older sister Mallory graduating last year, the team is very young and is looking to build some confidence and grow as a team this year.

The team is comprised of one junior, one sophomore, two freshman and two 7th graders.

Mara has never played a full 18-hole round of golf until her first meet at Crosswoods Golf Course, where she placed 36th with a 104.

On Monday, April 21, the team played at The Vintage at Staples. Mara shot a 115 good enough for 29th place....
