25 Years Ago

May 4, 1997

Mr. Jenkins’ fifth-grade students at Eagle Valley Elementary recently participated in the Math Masters Competition in Osakis. Pictured are Matthew Harren, Alyssa Wagner, Adam Gadbaw, Megan Schlichting, and Mark LaVoie. Mark won an individual award and the team placed 10th out of 31. They were treated to a pizza party for their efforts and had a lot of interesting stories to tell about the event.

Jenny Sovich and Sarah Booker combined for a two-hit shutout against the Upsala Cardinals last Tuesday. The two only walked three batters for the game and struck out five in the effort. The defense played well as only two errors were committed by the Rebels.


50 Years Ago

May 5, 1972

The outgoing board of directors and the new owners of the stock of the Eagle Valley Telephone Company honored Manager Don Anderson and his wife at a dinner at the Lakeside Supper Club at Long Prairie last Friday evening.

Members of the Lady Bugs Garden Club planted two trees at the Clarissa Manor last week in commemoration of Arbor Day. Members working on the project were Mrs. Willis Johnson, Mrs. Gil Wiltermuth, Mrs. Raymond LaVoie, Mrs. Dennis Feda, Mrs. Pearl Johnson, Mrs. Robert Kolodji and Mrs. Harlan Dixon.
