State Representative Mary Ellen Otremba (DFL-Long Prairie) attended a picnic and informal meeting hosted by the District 7 Farmer’s Union Milk Marketing Co-op in Clarissa. Approximately 70 delegates from Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota and their families attended the event. Judy Buhl of Browerville, who is on the board of directors for District 7, said the four got together to talk about the prices of milk and what is happening to farmers.

Matt Kuhnau, 14, of Clarissa spent two weeks this summer keeping in touch with his roots. Matt went to Motherland Summer School in Suwon, South Korea, just outside of Seoul. More than 30 students of Korean decent attended the summer school held on the Kyung Hee University campus. Matt’s mother, Sukwa, is Korean.

Gary Hayes purchased the cattle hauling division of the Clarissa Dray Line this week and assumed his new duties on Tuesday, July 31.

Todd County will be represented by four 4-H’ers at a six day citizenship short course at the National 4-H Center in Washington, D.C. starting August 4. Those attending from Todd County include: Dena Wahlen, Little Sauk Bluejays, Long Prairie; Beverly Kotval, Iona Rockbusters, Clarissa; Pam Anderson, Sod Busters, Eagle Bend; and Janet Pommerening, Hearty Elks, Long Prairie.
