25 Years Ago

March 31, 2000

Kipp Greenwaldt hit a third inning grand slam and hurled a complete game victory for the Eagle Valley Baseball Team to even their record with a 6-1 victory over Swanville/Upsala. Kipp hurled seven innings allowing just five hits, walking zero and striking out six.

The Eagle Valley Elementary, under the direction of Teresa Jennins, put on a concert called “A New Day” on Thursday night and again on Friday afternoon for Grandparent’s Day. It was a very entertaining program that showed a lot of variety and talent. Pictured is the fourth through sixth grade performing one of their numbers and also the kindergarten and first grade performing “Dip an Egg”.

50 Years Ago

April 24, 1975

Monday afternoon, the flood level in the new city park had dropped considerably from a few days previous. The flood level was not above normal this year, however, water stretched to both banks of the park again this spring. With nearly all of the snow now melted, the water has started to recede back to the Eagle Creek banks, which runs through the park. Tennis player enthusiasts could hardly wait for the tennis courts to dry off, and action was already taking place on the courts the first week despite the flooded park and cool temperatures.

You think you’ve had trouble with this snow and all...but consider the plight of Robert Cook, baseball manager for the Clarissa school team. The dugout is still full of snow and Monday was the first day he even got his team out on the field to try to practice.
