25 Years Ago

May 3, 2000

Hansen Lumber had 20 plus garden sheds built during the winter months. The warm weather has helped with the sale of lots of these sheds. There are only about a dozen left. Hansen put up a new storage shed downtown next to the main office.

The Eagle Valley Education Association has chose Marian Fragodt as its Outstanding Layperson in Education (O.L.E.) for the 1999-2000 school year. Fragodt has worked as a secretary/receptionist for the school district the past 27 years. As the present school year draws to a close, she is retiring. Her last day of work will be June 5.


50 Years Ago

May 8, 1975

Mr. and Mrs. Don Thompson purchased the Log Cabin Ballroom at Round Prairie in a business transaction last Thursday with Don Jacobson of Grey Eagle.

Two Clarissa High School track records were set last Saturday at Pequot Lakes by members of the Clarissa track team. Brian Cribbs set one of the records in the shot putt by throwing a distance of 48 feet and six inches. This was also good for first place in the meet. Steve Woge also set a new school record in the high jump by clearing the bar at five feet, eleven inches. He placed second in the meet.
