News from Clarissa's Past


25 Years Ago

May 17, 2000

Richard Lundgren, principal at the Eagle Valley High School, spent from February 28-March 3 at Camp Pendleton, California, one of the U.S. Marine’s training centers. Lundgren was one of a group of educators and counselors accepted for the military education workshop. He had the distinction of representing the smallest school. The goal of the workshop was not to give the marines preference over the other branches of the military but to understand the process and to learn what it takes to become a Marine.

Jim and Joan Johnson of Clarissa are the proud parents of seven children, two of which are their birth children, and the remaining five are adopted. One has cerebral palsy and the other four have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or Fetal Alcohol Exposure.


50 Years Ago

May 22, 1975

“This is not a good world you’re going out into,” Reverend Paul Miller told the members of the Clarissa High School graduating Class of 1975 Sunday evening. He addressed the class in a special Baccalaureate service at the Clarissa High School auditorium.

Lee Ann Klarich was crowned Clarissa’s 1975 Dairy Princess during the annual award ceremony held at the Clarissa School last Friday evening.
