June 23, 2000 will be 32 years and one day since Gerald Jacobson received his diploma as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus. It will also be his last day of work at his veterinary clinic in Clarissa. He and his wife, Charlotte, will be heading for their new home on Lake Vermillion, about 50 miles north of Hibbing.

It was a struggle for both teams, but the Flyers got more unearned runs than Wadena and came away with a 16-10 victory Sunday night in Clarissa. Deron Greenwaldt smacked a homer and a double, with four RBIs, as he continued to hit the ball well. He stroked a grand slam in the second inning to get the Flyers off and running. Monte Hinzmann blasted a fast ball well over the fence in right field as the winner stretched their lead to 7-1 in the third frame.
