Richard Axum, of St. Louis Park, son of Robert and Marjorie Axum of Clarissa, rode in the fifth annual 500 mile AIDS Ride, July 10-15, from the Twin Cities to Chicago. Over 2200 riders took part, riding 80 miles each day.

Clarissa captured the first game in its East Division final series as Hi-10 League playoffs continued Sunday. The score was 11-0 in the seventh inning. The Flyers jumped to a 2-0 lead after two at-bats, getting one on a double steal in the opening frame, and a solo home run from Cliff Cline.
50 Years Ago
July 31, 1975
During the week of July 14, the Clarissa Babe Ruth team finally began to put it all together and they couldn’t have chosen a better time to get hot. On the 14th, the Bucs played their first game of the league tournament at Swanville, and it wasn’t until a week later that they were finally eliminated from the tournament. Those seven were the most exciting baseball games anyone would care to see.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Lindquist attended the fifty-sixth annual convention of the American Legion Auxiliary held at the Moorhead Senior High School in Moorhead, July 8-12.
