25 Years Ago

November 15, 2000

Dale Hanson, recently hired for maintenance created by the retirement of Marlin Crider, said he’s learning the procedures and the needs of the community. Hanson commented that there is more wastewater accumulating then what is generated through the water tower. Mayor Schnettler said a lot of people discharged the water from their humidifiers into the sewer system, and said it should be dumped outside.

Jerry Schnettler, Clarissa’s long time mayor, did not file for re-election but he still received votes. The new mayor will be Robert (Bob) Gamache who defeated Jay (Rick) Busch Jr. Bush had filed for the mayor position.

50 Years Ago

November 20, 1975

Coach Cam Shields was selected as District 22 Coach of the Year, which makes him eligible to be selected as Region Six Coach of the Year. Shields has been the football coach at Clarissa for the past seven years, prior to that he coached in Texas. In over 25 years of coaching, he has had only three losing seasons.

Alan Behrends, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Behrends, is one of over 400 selected student musicians in the annual Christmas in Christ Chapel celebration at Gustavus Adolphus College at St. Peter.
