If you’ve noticed some commotion on the west end of Main Street, it is Jerry Host moving his tractor repair business into the old bus garage. He’s moving the business from his farm located just outside of Clarissa on County Road 11. Host has been in the business for about 38 years. He said he gained all of his experience from working on tractors and started when he was growing up on his parent’s farm.

On Friday, January 19, the Broncos wrestling team traveled to Breckenridge to take on the Cowboys. It was a very exiting match going down to the HWT. The Cowboys could not ride the Broncos, with Luke Rowe, Broncos HWT, winning, to put the Broncos on top 32-30.

January 29, 1976
Duane Lund, a driver from Clarissa on an Arctic Cat, went all the way from St. Paul to Winnipeg, finishing in 34th place. He was in 16th place the first night at Alexandria, 30th place the second night at Walker, and again in 50th place the third night when they stopped at Thief River Falls.

Ruth Nygren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Nygren, has been named Clarissa’s Betty Crocker Family Leader of Tomorrow. Ruth won the honor by competing with other seniors in the written knowledge and attitude examination on December 2. She will receive a certificate from General Mills, sponsor of the annual educational scholarship program, and becomes eligible for state and national honors.
