25 Years Ago

February 14, 2001

The Kids Teaching Kids program took place last week at Eagle Valley Elementary. It is a peer teaching program dealing with the “dangers of alcohol, drugs and driving”. The sixth graders at Eagle Valley divided into groups and were assigned classes from kindergarten through sixth grade. They prepare and practice four lessons to present to the class. The program has been around since 1984. Funding comes from the Department of Transportation. The peer teachers enjoy going into other classrooms and learning from their lessons.

Cloverleaf Camp #925 of the Royal Neighbors of America met on Tuesday evening, February 6, at the Heritage Place. Oracle Lucille Fearing presided with 17 members present. Plans for a Valentine’s party on February 14 were finalized. Afternoon entertainment at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa is being considered.

50 Years Ago

February 19, 1976

Dan Boseck, a senior at Clarissa High School, became Clarissa’s first District Wrestling Champion. At the district meet, Dan took first place in the 155 pound division. He is ending the season with 22 wins, and no losses.

Following nearly five years of hard work involving countless hours by hundreds of dedicated people, volumes of paperwork, hundreds of miles traveled to attend meetings, many prayers and a never failing determination to provide a care facility for those elderly in need to be located in their own community, the citizens of Central Todd County were finally given the go ahead to build the nursing home they have so long dreamed of and worked so hard for.
