The FLA Region Star Event was held in Staples on February 16. Pictured are the FLA members that placed at the competition. Crystal Hess received a gold rating and will participate at the state level April 26-28 in Bloomington. Jackie Karnes, Jessica Karnes, Jenny Gabler, and Renee Coburn, all received a silver rating.

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church of Clarissa played in an eight team volleyball tournament held in Melrose. They defeated St. Paul’s Melrose to take first place. They played three other teams: St. Peter’s Swanville, Immanuel Long Prairie,and St. John’s Grey Eagle. Pictured are David Gabler, Monica Pieper, Jacob Lunemann, Michelle Pieper, Tabitha Denny and Jana Hierl.

Mayor Harlan Dixon was nominated as a candidate for the “C.C. Ludwig Award” by members of the Clarissa Village Council at their regular monthly meeting held on Monday, March 1.

Phillip R. Godding, a freshman journalism major at Evangel College, of Springfield, Missouri, is named on the Academic Honors list for the fall semester there. Phillip is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Godding and is a graduate of the Clarissa High School.
