Several parents whose daughters are members of the Eagle Valley Girls Basketball team were on hand at the March 12 school board meeting venting their frustrations with the way the girls basketball team is being handled. Board Chairman Bob Winkler explained that the board would not take action, but would listen as it is a personnel matter. Diane Considine served as spokesperson for the group. Over the next hour, criticism about the lack of professionalism and coaching abilities, the lack of response from the athletic director and school administrators, parents shut out of being involved and the general frustration of both players and parents were reiterated over and over.

The Early Childhood Family Education held their annual “Push, pedal, pull” event last Tuesday in the gym. It gives the children a chance to race around in their favorite mode of transportation. A police officer was on duty to keep order by issuing tickets. A car wash, gas station, library and post office were set up. This event always draws a large group of children and they look forward to it each year.

The Jim Korblick family is involved in a new kind of farming venture...that of raising goats for milk! So far, the Korblicks have a herd of 44 French Alpine and Toggerenburg goats; 12 of which are milking. The herd includes 10 little doe kids, two daddy goats and 32 “mama” goats. They are expecting more in May and again in August.

Twenty-seven speech students from the local high school participated in a speech tournament at Staples last Saturday. Brian Bergs won first place in non-original oratory; Debby Aspengren won second place in serious poetry interpretation and Tama Hudalla won second place in original oratory.
