Last Friday, first graders honored their moms at a special program. They performed songs, presented their moms with hand-made gifts and each recited a poem. Pictured, Jacob Schauer is giving a gift to his mom, Denitra and Brooke Schumann shared a poem, and Jerod Nelson is also pictured with his mom.

The Eagle Valley Rebels baseball team continues to search for improvement on defense. The Rebels have had more trouble fielding especially in the infield where teams have taken advantage of numerous miscues in the field. The Rebels beat the Brainerd J.V. last week by a 8-7 score when Mark LaVoie made a diving catch with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and the bases were loaded with a 3-2 to save the game for Eagle Valley.

May 17, 1951
James Souhrada, Clarissa farmer, spent last week in the Thiel Hospital in Bertha as the result of injuries received in a run-away team of horses on May 5. The team, pulling a hayrack started to run and in his efforts to catch the team, Souhrada was run over by the rack. He was treated for multiple bruises, Dr. F.N. Grose said.

Honor students in the senior graduating class of 1951 were announced this week as the Class of ‘51 prepares to enter its last two weeks of school. Heading the class as valedictorian is Bernice Kuhn, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Kuhn. Bernice had an average of 95.9 for her four years of high school. Second in line as salutatorian is Marilyn Johnson with an average of 92.4. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Axel H. Johnson. Verneil Meiners, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Meiners, is in third place on the honor roll with an average of 91.8.
