Sandi Friest could be called a “Jill of all trades.” She does or has tried just about every artist venture imaginable. She has even built a few houses with her son-in-law, Dean, including the one they built in Clarissa which she calls home now. But the thing Sandi loves doing is making quilts and rugs. The rugs she makes don’t slip easily and are much thicker then most. She makes rugs for people out of their own rag material.

On Friday, June 15, the First State Bank in Clarissa held a Dairy/Ag Appreciation Day. Customers enjoyed hot dogs, chips and dairy products. They also got to meet the dairy princesses. Dairy Ambassador Rhonda Brekke and Dairy Princess Katrina Ahrens served lunch for the appreciation day.

June 24, 1976
Three new teachers were hired by the Clarissa Board of Education at their monthly meeting held on Monday, June 14. They are Lindsy May of Minneapolis who was hired as the vocational home economics teacher, Jan Christenson of Madelia was hired as an elementary teacher and Randall Voth of St. James was hired as an elementary teacher.

Following 15 months of intensive remodeling and expansion, the Farmers State Bank of Clarissa will hold an open house for the public to view their new facility this Saturday, June 26. The hours will be from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
