The Clotho United Methodist Church held their annual ice cream social on Sunday, August 5. They served lunch along with homemade ice cream, pies and cakes. Everyone attending the ice cream social enjoyed live music by Jim Lunemann, Caleb Overly and Seth Garwood.

A loss ends the season for the Clarissa Flyers so the weekend saw the locals fight off elimination twice. On Friday, Clarissa won a close contest with Carlos 9-8 then on Sunday defeated Deer Creek in a shootout 16-9.
50 Years Ago
August 12, 1976
Dr. F.N. Grose, one of Clarissa’s most prominent citizens, who devoted nearly a life-time of service to this community, passed away at St. John’s Hospital in Browerville on Wednesday morning, August 4.

The construction at the Central Todd County Care Center/Retirement Complex at Clarissa commenced on Monday, August 9.
