January 24, 1996

The target date for the opening of “North Texas BBQ” (formerly L&B’s Drive-In) is Thursday, February 15. Melanie Langlie Lee and her husband Michael Lee, along with other family members and friends have done extensive remodeling to the building. The Texas-style BBQ will feature slow-smoked beef, pork, and turkey. Sauces are available for those who like a spicy variety. The style of service will be fast food counter type.

The Rebels wrestling team ends the season with a 1-14 team record. They lost three matches: Menahga-Sebeka, 6-61; Staples-Motley, 0-72; and Brainerd, 6-64.


50 Years Ago

February 11, 1971

The village debt was cut by $7000—the largest reduction in many years—and the local municipal liquor store showed a net profit of $25,676 in 1970, according to the village financial statement, which was issued last week.

A newly organized group, consisting of band parents and other interested persons named the Tooter Rooters, are going all out to raise funds for the band so they can get new uniforms.
