25 Years Ago

May 1, 1996

The Clarissa Lions Club made several financial donations on Monday, April 22. Char Greene accepted a check for $196 for T-shirts for the Dragon Reading Program for the Eagle Valley Elementary School. Julia Cuchna accepted $1600 for the Lake Carlos Environment Center for skis. Five $600 scholarships ($3000) were donated to Dollars for Scholars in the name of the Clarissa Lions. Deb Durheim accepted the check.

Volunteers were honored at the Central Todd County Care Center on Tuesday, April 23. Ten volunteers received pins for their hours of service. They were: Laura Benson, 54 hours; Eloise Clementson, 15 hours; Clara Rolfes, Octavia Shimota, 41 hours; Wilma Wendel, 17 hours; Paul Johnson, Eva Lidberg, 28 hours; Helen Rasmussen 17 hours; and Kari Lundstrom, 24 hours.


50 Years Ago

April 29, 1971

The Clarissa Cubs, winners of the Morrison County League and an eventual entry in the State Tourney a year ago open the new season this Sunday in defense of their title. Swanville will be their first opponent on Clarissa’s diamond starting at 2 p.m.

At the close of the filing for positions on the Clarissa Board of Education on Tuesday night, five candidates had filed, according to Glenn Jedlicka, clerk. Don Carlson and Dale Foote filed for reelection, while new filings were: Hollis Dickinson, Glenn Kotval, and Mrs. Gordan Hokanson.
