Hart wins 3rd PRC title

by Coach Michael Arvidson

The week started with Senior night on Tuesday as the Raiders welcomed lean and mean Annandale/Maple Lake, Benson, and Pelican Rapids to Parkers Prairie.

The opening round figured to be the toughest of the three duals as both teams were in the rankings.

Adam Grabow accepted a forfeit, and Mason Hoffman doubled the score with a quick fall.

Merrick Hoffman added a first period fall and it was quickly 18-0.

The Lightning struck back winning the next three bouts making it 18-14.

Orran Hart added a tech fall to make it 23-14 heading down the back stretch.

ANML once again won three in a row to take the 24-23 lead. The teams swapped forfeits as Owen Zigan got his arm raised and the showdown of two ranked kids to decide the dual came down to heavyweight.

Braden Shamp scored first with a takedown but was reversed to his back and found himself in a hole.

Shamp pushed the pace and attacks as his opponent weathered forcing the match into overtime. No sudden victory, so we went to the tie-breakers. With his opponent trying to hold onto a one point lead, Shamp attacked left and right doing enough for the two point stalling call as time was expiring for the 8-7 decision to seal the dual at 32-30.

After an exciting win to start the evening, the Raiders came out strong against Benson.

Grabow rallied to win late in the third and the momentum carried to Mason with a fall.

Merrick claimed a forfeit, Wyatt Jares settled for a decision, and Justin Olson a fall as BHVPP opened up a 24-0 lead.

The Braves got on the board at 139 as we swapped pins with Hart gluing his opponent to make it 30-6....
