Harold Piepkorn of Hewitt has Parkinson’s Disease and has fully restored an old time bobsled after it had been sitting in the brush for over 50 years. Harold spotted some old wood on his neighbor Randy Johnson’s land across the road and asked if he could put the wood to use for some of his wood working projects. He stumbled over some iron pieces that were wedged into the ground. Harold uncovered a great piece of history and asked Randy if he could have the pieces of iron. Jerry Kelly was the original owner of the bobsled. He used to cut a cord of wood, load it on the bobsled and haul it into Hewitt to sell for $2. Harold started the project in November of 1999, and finished in February of 2000.
