Judy Siegle didn’t let a 1979 car accident that left her wheelchair bound deter her athletic abilities. She has become a winning wheelchair racer around the world. Siegle, 39, now lives in Fargo. She is the daughter of Faye and Al Siegle. Al is a former teacher at the Bertha-Hewitt School. Siegle suffered a broken neck in a car accident that left two people dead just a month before she was to begin a basketball career at Concordia College. This will be the second time she has participated in the Olympics. She came in fourth in two events and fifth in another in the 1996 games in Atlanta. She broke the U.S. and World Record in the 800 meter race. Unfortunately, that was only good enough for fourth place.
