Orville Rach from Hewitt could tell you a thing or two about the wind. He could tell you that the wind can blow more than one way at one time based on the lay out of the land. Orville has been making windmills for a few years now and knows from experience from watching his creations that the wind can blow one windmill one way and another in another direction depending on if there are trees around, buildings or open land.

There has been a good deal of activity with the school addition since last month’s meeting. All of the interior slabs have been poured. Almost all the exterior brick is done. Masons are busy working in the locker room area and several sections of the addition have had the roofing completed. It is expected to be done by March.

Plans for a turkey shoot will be discussed at the first meeting of the Bertha-Hewitt Sportsman’s Club to be held in the Masonic Hall on October 2. A committee, consisting of Harold Dull, Lyle Rounds, Homer Pratt and Buster Cary, has set the date for the shoot on October 15.

The local football team stamped itself as the leading contender for conference honors on Friday when it came up with a surprisingly easy 39-0 win over Sebeka. What kind of opposition the Bears will meet Friday against Eagle Bend is problematical. The team from our neighboring town has not been regarded as conference power, but with an upset victory over Browerville casts them in the role of the circuit darkhorse.
