Jim Truman likes shooting archery. In fact, today he is getting ready to go out with his son-in-law, Chris Ingebritson, and do a little deer hunting with the bow. It has become popular enough in our area that Truman started an archery range at Little Moran Hunting Club. It was a real delight to learn that sometime in late December of 1943 the Trinity Lutheran Church members of Hewitt buried a time capsule in one of the hollow cement foundation blocks of the church. It wasn’t until late November 1999 that five active church members set up a video movie camera on a tripod, pugged in a masonry drill bit and after identifying a certain foundation brick, opened a church treasure hidden for 56 years. Those present were Orin Brissett, Bob Budahn, Gerald Ganske, Vaugn Hackbarth and Steve Wallner. Contents were wrapped in a Minneapolis Star newspaper dated December 23, 1943. Within lay one Holy Bible, a small Lutheran’s Catechism and a single sheet of paper with the names of church members in their own handwriting. Members Harold Piepkorn and Elsworth Jasmer were present when it was sealed.

Clarissa Superintendent Applauds Bertha School Sportsmanship—Hats off to Bertha School and the football team. Although Clarissa lost quite convincingly, everyone went home with the cheerful feeling that the best team won fair and square. It is a pleasure to compete with your school. Bertha should be proud of the reputation of its school and the sportsmanship of the coach and team. Further details are unnecessary. Anyone watching the practice of the Bertha coach or saw the action of both teams during and after the game, knows what we mean. Sincerely, Gordon D. Nyman, Clarissa Superintendent.
