Lorenz marks 60 years at the newspaper and his 80th birthday

July marks two significant milestones for our Pressman Dave Lorenz here at the Independent News Herald/Benning Printing. This month, he celebrated 60 years of working in the printing/newspaper business, as well as his 80th birthday on the 22nd.
On July 29, 1965, George F. Etzell wrote in the Clarissa Independent, “We failed to mention a week or so ago that David Lorenz of Alexandria has joined our staff as a typesetting machine operator. David is new to the field, having just graduated from the printing department at the State School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota.”
Dave originally learned about a job opening in Alexandria from his uncle who lived there. Although it wasn’t the position he had trained for, he remained there until he discovered the opportunity in Clarissa...
