Mason Gode, two-time State Champion Landon Gode is State runner-up, Braden Thom 4th and Gavin Albers

by Coach Jacob Lorentz

Five Wolves wrestlers competed in the State finals on Saturday, March 27 at STMA High School.

Connor Flan, wrestling at 106 pounds, dropped his first two matches and was eliminated from the tourney. Flan had a fantastic season and will look to improve even more next season. He finished his first year on varsity as a sophomore with a 27–8 record. Being in the final eight was a great experience and will no doubt drive him even more for next season.

Gavin Albers opened his first State Quarterfinal bout with a tough loss. Gavin, wrestling at 113 pounds, battled back and picked up two wins in the consolation bracket to finish in fifth place. Albers, wrestling his first full season on varsity as a sophomore, had a fantastic 34–2 record on the season.

Braden Thom wrestled in his second straight State Tourney, opening with a big 2–0 win in his quarterfinals match. That moved Braden into the State Semifinals where he fell to the eventual State Champion. Thom dropped a hard-fought 3–2 overtime loss in the third-place match to finish in fourth place. Thom wrestled at 126 pounds and finished in fourth place. He wrestled at 106 pounds last year with the same fate. He is now a two-time place winner, finishing his junior season with a 29–6 record. . .
