25 Years Ago

December 18, 1997

Nineteen K-4 students have participated in the Browerville after-school 4-H program this fall, sponsored by the Community Education Program and Todd County Extension Services. Participants at the Thursday, December 11, meeting learned to use rubber stamps to make a 1998 calendar. Marcia Woeste, County Extension Education, also conducts after-school 4-H programs for Long Prairie, Eagle Valley and Grey Eagle. This fall’s topics included making bread in a bag, and exploring apples.

Nineteen students in the Browerville High School Food and Nutrition classes hosted a Christmas Tea on Friday morning, December 12, in the Family Science classroom. Each student invited one adult and one student guest. School personnel were also invited. Sarah Anderson, Carrie Blommel, Michelle Carstensen, Jessica Gwilt, Erin Tichy, Jessica Zigan, Angie Benning, Michelle Blommel, Stacy Broquist, Kristi Callahan, Kevin Kurpiers, Jamie Meloche, Mandy Mikel, Ryan Oliver, Jeff Quirk, Randy Thompson, Sara Salber, Greg Lamusga and Carrie Mensen had prepared cookies, candies, dipped chocolates, fancy tea sandwiches from colored bread and Wassail tea for their 80-90 guests.

75 Years Ago

December 18, 1947

With a quota of $2200 to be raised in Todd County, A.G. Olson, county chairman of the drive in Todd County for funds for the Sister Elizabeth Kenny Foundation, submitted a report on December 10. A total of $2156.92 was raised.

Browerville’s Independent basketball team won a very exciting game from Bertha’s Independents by a close 38-41 count last Wednesday evening. Bertha trailed the locals by a few points all through the game threatening to take the lead at any time.
