Deb Ulve, a veterinary technician with the Todd County Veterinary Clinic for the past seven years, would like to remind long-haired dog owners about the importance of grooming their dogs before hot and humid weather sets in. Matted fur may lead to skin infections and possibly problems with lice and maggots. Other staff members available for care at the Todd County Veterinary Clinic include: Charlie Pieper, DVM (29 years), Jerry Pieper, DVM (22 years), Mona LaDue, receptionist (19 years), Edith Terwey, DVM (since 1979), Jeff Sauer, DVM (since 1992), and Mike Michaelson (since 1996). The Clarissa clinic handles mostly dogs, cats, cows, horses and other large animals, but not as many goats and sheep as the Long Prairie Clinic. Edith and Jeff in Long Prairie also care for birds and other small, caged animals.

The pancake breakfast held on Saturday morning at the city hall was a successful affair with over 85 people being served pancakes and sausages. The Paul Bunyan-size breakfast served was sold for 40 cents, assuring everyone enough for their money, and proved to be as tasty a meal as could have been prepared at home. Everything was prepared by the Boy Scouts themselves with the exception of the coffee which was prepared by Mrs. Hynnek.
