When Mike and Jenny Aksamit of Sauk Rapids heard that Jerry and Mary Zigan of Browerville were interested in selling the Browerville Bus service, the Aksamits decided to take the opportunity to move out of the big city. Mike, who has worked for a company selling school buses for the past eight years, explained that the couple had already decided that they wanted their children to grow up in a small rural community.

Try the 4-H Mystery Adventure planned for Wednesday, August 16. The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. from the Courthouse Annex in Long Prairie. We need 40 kids, grades 5-8, to pre-register for the bus ride adventure. Cost for the trip is $6, which includes the activity and the bus ride. The bus will return around 4:30 p.m.

August 3, 1950
Jewell, a baby elephant, will be an added free attraction at the Todd County Fair next week. Mrs. Ole Austinson of Long Prairie, county fair chairman of the Todd County Republican committee, said this week that Jewell will be on the midway on Wednesday, August 9. Parents are urged to be sure that the “small fry” meet this elephant, which has a very winning manner.

In stressing the educational aspects of a fair, the management has not overlooked the entertainment features which have been the constant aim of the fair board to make the Todd County Fair a county-wide fun festival. This year they have secured what is in their opinion the finest grandstand show ever to play at the Todd County Fair. Mr. DeWaldo, the fair’s booking agent, has supplied the fair with a generous selection of circus, vaudeville and revue attractions, complete with scenery, special lighting effects and music.
