September 28, 2001

Darryl Christensen, his wife Bonnie and their children were present at the Browerville City Council meeting to let the council know they are unhappy with the odor that emanates from the lift station located about 60 yards from their home in Browerville. Darryl sat at the table and talked with them about the “very offending odor” he and his family have been living with for five years. He shared several conversations with the city and was repeatedly told the city would take care of it. It gets taken care of for a while then the odor returns. He brought a sample from the sewage for the council to smell.

Mike Thorsen boated out to one of his barns last Tuesday morning after a nearby road washed out, causing a wall of water to flood his farmyard east of Browerville along Highway 29. Mike realized the water was coming but didn’t have time to move all of his vehicles to high ground. The Thorsens lost several thousand chickens but are still in business.
