Pirates Battle Through Ups and Downs

Verndale 70, New York Mills 85

On Monday, January 26th, the Boys Basketball team hosted the New York Mills Eagles and lost by a score of 85-70. Braylin Deleon led the Pirates in scoring with 24 points as well as 5 assists. Kyler Vertina added 12 points and 9 rebounds. Chase Jensen also scored in double figures with 10 points.

Stats: Zain Waldah 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 8 points. Joe Elfstrum 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 8 points. Kyler Vertina 9 rebounds, 1 assits, 1 steal, 12 points. Carrson Dick 3 rebounds. Brady Messer 1 steal. Jackson White 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 5 points. Chase Jensen 4 rebounds, 3 assits, 1 steal, 10 points. Zaiden Ziegler 1 assist. Bryce Schmitz 1 rebound, 2 assits, 3 points. Preston Pierce 1 rebound, 1 block. Braylin Deleon 5 assists, 1 steal, 24 points. Cooper Voeltz 1 rebound.

Verndale 41, Sebeka 73

On Tuesday, January 27th the Pirates Boys Basketball team travelled to Sebeka to play the Trojans and lost by a score of 73-41. Joe Elfstrum led the Pirates in scoring with 11 points to go with his team high 6 rebounds. Chase Jensen also grabbed 6 rebounds. Kyler Vertina scored 10 points as well.
