News from Eagle Bend's Past

April 15, 1998

Before last year, if people from Eagle Bend wanted to donate blood, they had to travel to another town. David Rolstad of Eagle Bend saw a need for a local blood drive and worked to satisfy that need. Working with the American Red Cross, last year Rolstad coordinated the first blood drive in Eagle Bend. This year, the blood drive will be held on April 16 from 1-7 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend. Bloodmobile volunteers: Kim Miller, Bev Johnson, David Peterson, Melissa Stueve, Sharon Gothman, Lorraine Bruun, Bev Hetland, David Rolstad, David Anderson, Jerry Bruun and Adeline Rodgers.

Singing “Doggie in the Window” before a packed auditorium, four-year-old Dennis Danielson captured the hearts of the audience and two top awards. He received first place in his age group and the $10 prize for the most audience appeal. Last year his six-year-old brother Steven won a similar award at the amateur show. The boys are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Don Danielson of the rural Eagle Bend community. Following close behind Dennis were two girls who won second and third prizes. They were ten-year-old Linda Weibye and nine-year-old Ethel Bakke. Both girls had pleasing voices which show promise for future development.

The fifth-grade pupils had a birthday party for their teacher, Mrs. Ella Lindquist, on Tuesday, April 9. It began in the morning when she found gifts from the children scattered all over her desk. After looking at her gifts, games were played.
