On May 18, the Sons of the VFW held their installation program. The Sons of the VFW is open to young men ages 8-18 whose father or grandfather served 30 consecutive days in a combat zone, which according to their advisor and group founder, Neil Pollard, is the same requirement that belongs to the VFW. The group began on March 10, 1988. At that time, Pollard said he had received a newsletter about the group Sons of the VFW. He was interested in starting a group for young men and asked for more information. The group now meets once a month. Pictured are the current group and officers: Senior Vice Commander Karl Anderson, Commander Josh Prather, Lucas Maland, Junior Vice Commander Ricky Runge, Brian Yates, Jason Runge, Justin Nordquist, Justin Prather, Advisor Neil Pollard, Tony Ivilla, Sean Nordquist, and Installing Officer Past 6th District Commander Harlan Guse. Not pictured are Mark Yates and Earl Prather.
