The Double Eagle Golf Course and Supper Club is one of the best places in Minnesota to golf, according to the course’s rating by Golf Digest. Course construction began in 1981 and it opened in 1982. The course was designed by golf course architect Joel Goldstrand. His idea to make it a reversible golf course was unheard of at that time. In 1987, the course received national attention when Golf Digest featured Double Eagle, stating it was the first reversible golf course ever built.

Over 100 teachers learned about lignite production and use, energy economics and the environment at a three day teacher’s education seminar entitled “Lignite-Our Regional Resource, Energy, Economics and Environment.” The seminar, held in Bismark, North Dakota, from June 14-16, was sponsored by the Lignite Energy Council and the American Coal Foundation. Among the teachers attending from North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Montana were Curt Gjerstad, an Eagle Valley High School teacher, and Tom Gjerstad, an Osakis teacher.

Terri Peterson of rural Eagle Bend has been selected to participate in the summer session of the American Institute of Cooperation at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, July 28-31.

The “Eagles” band will present a series of two summer concerts beginning this Saturday evening at the Eagle Bend Park and picnic grounds. In case of inclement weather, they will be presented in the high school gym.
