Thanks to the determination of Marty Sqaden, a Mendota Heights father whose daughter failed the state’s basic math test, at least 8000 students have learned they didn’t fail. The company hired to assess the tests had made a mistake in scoring the exams. The test result snafu affected 40 Eagle Valley students, according to Richard Lundgren, high school principal. “Of the 40, three were seniors. The review of their tests found that the score of all three were higher, with two raised enough to have a passing grade.” Passing the test was one of the requirements for receiving diplomas.
