News from Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago

January 10, 1996

On January 6, the Rebels wrestling team and the Eagle Valley Sports Boosters Club hosted the Eagle Valley Invitational. The Raiders from Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale placed first with seven wrestlers in the finals. The Rebels placed ten wrestlers in the top four but came out in fifth place. Scott Rowe, a senior, was the only Rebel in the final. Scott lost to Cory Olson 4-3 and placed second.

“Channel 45 is now moving back into the educational model for which it was designed,” said Eagle Valley Principal Richard Lundgren. “Area schools and the general public will once again be able to avail themselves of educational programming,” he explained. Those who have cable television service will have to manually select Channel 45 to receive the broadcasts. At the present time, none of the cable companies are carrying Channel 45 as part of their programming.


50 Years Ago

January 7, 1971

A two-car accident on Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 1970, created nearly $400 in damages to automobiles owned by Steven Hess of Eagle Bend and Mabel Motl of Browerville.

The last accident in Eagle Bend in the year 1970 involved Dr. H. Smith of Eagle Bend and Earl Glarevits of Belgrade. It occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on December 31.
