Late last Monday afternoon, October 28, the Eagle Bend Fire Department was called to a combine fire. The fire was at Marvin Hansen’s farm, eight miles southwest of Eagle Bend. Mary Jean had been running the combine all day before the fire started in the engine compartment. Marvin emptied two fire extinguishers on the fire but could not extinguish it. He considered the machine a total loss.

In sub-section 22A action last week, the Eagle Valley Rebels advanced to the semi-finals by beating Browerville 3-0 on Tuesday night in the quarter-finals. Offensively, the Rebels played very well. The team only missed two serves in the match. Maija Wiltermuth led the team with four aces. Setter Sara Bain did a nice job of varying the offense to keep the Tigers' defense guessing.
