Train engine fire

On Monday, January 17, at 1:15 p.m., the Wadena Fire Department (WFD) was dispatched for mutual aid for a train locomotive engine fire at the intersection crossing of State Highway 10 and County Highway 71 in Otter Tail County for the Bluffton Fire Department (BFD). Upon the arrival of the WFD, the BFD had extinguished the train engine fire. Other WFD units assisted as the disabled engine was returned to the Staples Railway in case the train engine would have reignited. There were no further issues. The incident took less than 30 minutes.
