Community mourns loss of toddler in accidental shooting

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a toddler who reportedly shot himself at approximately 5:40 p.m. in Oak Valley Township, southeast of the city of Deer Creek on December 29.

The 3 1/2-year-old boy, Rudy Sweere, was taken to Astera Health in Wadena, where it was learned Monday he died from the injuries.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says the fatal shooting was ruled an accident.
