Farm life and family first at Breakfast on the Farm

If you’ve ever wondered what life on a modern dairy farm really looks like—what it feels like—then mark your calendars for Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., because the Todd County Breakfast on the Farm is rolling into rural Browerville at the home of Loren and Liz Vetsch.

This isn’t just a tour of some cows and tractors. It’s a glimpse into a life that’s equal parts hard work, heart, and hands-on responsibility—even for the youngest members of the family.

Loren and Liz moved to their farm back in May of 2008. At the time, they didn’t have any kids. Now they’ve got four—Mackenzie (14), Izaak (12), Emily (9), and Lindsey (7)—and every one of them plays an important role on the farm.

From calf chores in the evening to helping during corn harvest, the Vetsch kids know what it means to grow up with purpose.

“They know their responsibility, they know what needs to get done,” said Liz. “Especially in the wintertime, they’re in charge of the calves, so they get off the school bus and they do their chores. And when they’re not here, even if they’re just gone overnight, they ask, ‘Did this one drink? Did that one calve?’”...
