Senators Steve Dillie, Dassell; Arlene Lesweski, Marshall; Michelle Fischbach, Paynesville; Dallas Sams, Staples, chairman of the committee; and three senate aides made the trip. Their goal was to obtain first-hand information on innovations in agriculture. They wanted to learn how the Minnesota Legislature can be more receptive to assisting with agriculture.

The TCCA-sponsored 1997 Holiday Party was held at the Clarissa Ballroom on September 27. Free bus rides to the party were provided by the Earl LeMieur Bus Company of Little Falls. Two Clarissa Boy Scouts from Troop 37, Brian Yates and Lance Dehn, helped serve and were very much appreciated. Music by Kim Wolf was enjoyed by all. Door prizes were provided by eight of the senior centers in Todd County. Dort Gere was the MC of the party.
