25 Years Ago

October 22, 1997

Allen Bailey, gambling manager; Todd Greig, Clarissa Lion’s president; and John Bergs, treasurer; presented a check for $3000 to Margi Taggart, Central Todd County Care Center administrator, for their outdoor garden area project.

The 1997 racing season came to an end at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria with a doubleheader on Labor Day weekend. Ron Host, son of Jerry and Jane Host of Clarissa, won the 1997 championship for leading the Division Point Title for the Super Stock Division. Ron also won the Mid-Season Championship in July which awarded him the “NASCAR Dream Trip for Two” to Phoenix, Arizona, for which he left on October 31.


50 Years Ago

October 19, 1972

Susan Sticha, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milo Sticha, has been voted president of the Central Minnesota Association of Student Councils (CMASC). The election took place at the CMASC convention held in New London Spicer on Wednesday, October 11. This is the third time in five years that Clarissa High School has been represented at the convention.

The junior class of Clarissa High School is putting on a play called “Look Who’s Laughing” on Saturday, November 4. The cost is 75 cents for adults and 50 cents for high school students. Tickets may be purchased from any junior.
