February 3, 1999

Amber Benning, daughter of Gary and Bonnie Benning of Eagle Bend, and Charles Kuhnau, son of Kim Kuhnau of Clarissa and Suk Powless of Rancho Palesverdas, California, were crowned the 1999 Snow Daze King and Queen during the coronation ceremony held on Monday, February 1 at the Eagle Valley High School.


The Kathy and David Wagner family from Clarissa recently visited the State Capitol in St. Paul to watch State Representative Mary Ellen Otremba be sworn into office. Pictured are Renea, Trish, Sarah, Representative Otremba holding Laura, Kyle, Kathy and David holding Anthony. Representative Otremba appreciates visits from area residents.

50 Years Ago

January 31, 1974

Jonathan Hanson, son of Reverend and Mrs. A.A. Hanson, is a member of the internationally renowned St. Olaf Choir which will be touring the Upper Midwest from January 30 to February 15.


Carl Lehman of Clarissa, Bill Rasche of Long Prairie, R.D. “Bud” Makinster of Long Prairie and Tom Mettler of Long Prairie were elected to the Board of Directors of the Central Minnesota Beef Producers Association at the annual meeting held recently.
